Your images stay on your device
Files you choose, drop, or paste are read and processed in your browser. We do not upload those images, pixel data, or selections to a server. Images remain in memory for the current visit and are not saved by this tool.
Loading an image URL
When you provide an image URL, your browser requests it directly from its host. That host receives an ordinary network request, including your IP address. Some hosts block access; downloading the image and choosing the local file is an alternative.
Saved colours, palettes and gradients
Colour values, palette names, gradient settings and names, and your last 20 selected colours are stored in this browser’s local storage. They are not synced to an account or another device. Use the clear and delete controls in the workspace to remove them. Clearing your browser’s site data also removes them.
When you send colours to another tool on this site, only colour values are included after the # in the destination link. This part is read in your browser and is not sent in the HTTP request to our server. Shared links contain colour values and opacity, never images, image URLs or palette names. Anyone you give a link to can see those colours. Your browser may retain the link in its history. Saved gradients have their own delete controls in the gradient maker.
Appearance preference
The site follows your device’s light or dark appearance by default. If you use the night-mode toggle, your choice is saved in this browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes this preference.
Optional analytics, no advertising
Google Analytics loads only if you choose “Allow analytics”. It uses cookies to help us understand page visits and successful actions such as copying a result or starting an export. Google receives browser and device information and the network request, including your IP address, and may derive approximate location. We do not enable advertising features or Google signals. Our events exclude images, image URLs, filenames, colour values, palette names, search text and error-message contents. Page addresses sent by our tag omit query strings and fragments. We send an empty referrer and keep automatic enhanced measurement off. Search performance is assessed separately using aggregated Google Search Console reports.
Your analytics choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Analytics cookies are also configured to expire after 180 days without automatically extending their expiry. Choose “Analytics choices” in the footer to turn analytics off; this removes this site's Analytics cookies and reloads the page. We respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice lasts for the current page only. Declining does not restrict any colour tool.
The site has no advertising. Fonts and sample images are hosted with the site. Our hosting provider may process ordinary request information to deliver and secure the website.

If you email hello@hexcolourfinder.com, your email provider and ours process your message. We use your email address and the information you send to respond to your enquiry. Please avoid sending sensitive images or information. Contact us at the same address to ask about or request deletion of your correspondence, subject to any applicable retention obligations.

We update this page when the way the service handles information changes. The update date appears above.
Clipboard and screen picking
Pasting reads the image you paste. Copy buttons write the value you choose to your clipboard. Supported browsers can offer screen picking only after you click its button; you can cancel at any time.
