Check text colour contrast.
Check HEX text and background colours against WCAG AA and AAA thresholds. Preview your pair, find readable text colours and copy a link to the result.
Your two colours
Transparency is composited on white. Results use the last valid values while you edit.
Calculating…
A clear point of view.
Good colour choices make room for everyone. This is a normal-size text sample.
Small details. Better reading.

A practical example
See three real colour pairs and two ways to fix a failing brand colour.
Black text on white has a 21:1 contrast ratio. White on white has 1:1 and fails. A value close to a threshold needs care: 4.49:1 still fails normal-text AA.
Useful answers
What contrast ratio should I aim for?
For WCAG AA text contrast, aim for at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. AAA needs 7:1 for normal text and 4.5:1 for large text. Large text means at least 24 CSS pixels at regular weight or about 18.67 CSS pixels in bold.
How does opacity affect the result?
A translucent background is first placed on white. Translucent text is then placed on that background. The ratio uses those resulting colours, so choose a solid background that matches your design if it is not white.
Does a passing result mean my website is accessible?
This checks text colour contrast only. Keyboard access, labels, text alternatives, layout and other requirements still need checking. Never use colour alone to communicate essential information.
Can I save a colour pair?
Yes. Name the pair to save it in this browser, download a text report, or choose Copy link to this pair to reopen it on another device. The link includes colour values and opacity, without images or palette names.
